Of those funny little skin diver thingies *update2*

Well, six days in this is how they look;

There is still, naturally, some discharge but they seem to have settled in well. No movement and little discomfort. I suggested using 'butterfly' stitches to keep them in over night and that has worked well. Apart from that a single saline soak a day, patted dry, then kept dry for the rest of the day. Now I'm looking forward to the next set!

Hey! No Way!! That's My Arm!!!

Just thought I'd add a few words to Adam's account.

I've wanted a new piercing since my first by Adam a couple of years ago. I always had the idea of studs in my arm, but was not sure if this was possible.
I found out about Dermal Anchors but was not comfortable with the permanancy of these and the removal requiring surgery.

Adam suggested these new things 'Skin Divers'!!!

They look basically like two discs separated by a thin post but it is all one piece, the underside disc is slightly tapered.

Adam showed me the new kit which simply consisted of a miniature boring tool and the stud itself.

So, after a long discussion about placement and being happy with his mark-up he did the first hole.
It did'nt hurt much, just like a normal piercing then he had to force, or should I say 'Persuade' the stud to go in. This was a bit more painful but still bearable.

Even after the first day I had forgotten that they were there.

No swelling or bruising.

Adam said 'discharge' but it was just some dried crud that has now cleaned up nicely.

I am reall happy with the result, I think that they are a good alternative to Dermal Anchors.

The only problem in my eyes is that the piercing is the jewellery itself, it cannot be changed, there is no screw thread to attach any thing else you simply have a choice of two different sized flat studs, but I think they look great!!!

Thanks Adam, I'll be back when I have decided what's next. S.

Any new updates on these skin divers? Are they still in? Any problems? Thinking about getting a couple myself, one behind my ear as a starter... but I would like to know more!

I had a skin diver on the back of my neck a week ago. I love how it looks as you can now get coloured gems or in my case I got a star. The piercing seems to be heeling well and is not painful at all nor was actually having the piercing done. I chose a skin diver as an alternative to the dermal anchor due to the fact that they have to be surgically removed, however the fact that these don't means that they do come out quite easily if they are caught I have been extra careful and have already knocked mine out once on the day it was done, possibly due to the awkward position. So if you are 100% sure and don't mind scarring I'd go for the dermal anchor. Hope this helps!

If you have an experienced piercer there is no reaqson you need "sugery" to remove a micro dermal. A little massaging and out it pops! I'm a little iffy about these skin anchors, especially the fact that you can't change the tops like you can dermals!
